The mission of
social action in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is to promote leadership, advocacy and empowerment to affect social change and
public policy.
The Goals of the Social Action Committee are:
- Increase the knowledge of
current national and local issues so that every Delta will be an informed and effective citizen and advocate who actively
engages in the electoral process
- Encourage active participation as individuals in political activity
- Work to enact national and
local legislation of particular interest to African Americans and women
- Maintain vigilance over action or inaction by local,
judicial and administrative agencies and officials
- Cultivate a person-to-person relationship with the community power structure
